Hermes and Krater

The Grail

"Raising themselves to that height, they see the Good. And having seen the Good, they deem the sojourn here on earth a thing to be deplored; and having scorned all beings corporeal and incorporeal, they press on to reach the One-and-Only." -- Corpus Hermeticum, IV

Hermes, who wrote in advance of the Christian story, spoke of the Krater, a symbolic vessel descending from heaven, from the One-and-Only, in which those who will can immerse themselves (or drink from) and receive "a share of gnosis" [the knowledge of God].

"He filled a great Krater with intellect, and sent it down to earth; and he appointed a herald, and bade him make proclamation to the hearts of men: `Dip yourself in this Krater, you who are able; you who believe that you will ascend to Him who sent this Krater down; you who know for what purpose you have been born.' " -- Corpus Hermeticum, IV

He reflects that most do not do so "since their temper is in a state of passion and anger."

"Nay, the vision of the Good is not a thing of fire, as are the sun's rays; it does not blaze down upon us and force us to close our eyes; it shines forth much or little according to the capacity of him who can receive the inflow of the intelligible radiance." -- Corpus Hermeticum, X, (my emphasis)

In one sense, we are the vessel, the cup; hence my emphasis above on our own capacity. We cannot be filled unless we are empty. Empty of greed (lust, desire) and hostility (anger). Empty of wanting what we do not have. Empty of not wanting what we do have. Empty of stupor (ignore-ance). Empty of "the world's" agenda.

Any warrior worthy of the name is on a Grail (Krater) quest, this spiritual receptacle that "comes down from heaven" into which one dives and is bathed, cleansed of all impurity; the cup from which one drinks, satisfying the aching thirst that has plagued one all this earthly life.

All Grail knights (warriors of spirit) both look for and look to become the Grail, the Krater.

uncertainty

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that the act of observation disturbs what is observed so that what is observed cannot be known for certain (if you observe the position, you cannot know the momentum, and vice versa). We seem to be disturbers of the Cosmos. How can we develop, open to a different process of observation so that we can truly see? Or is it more likely the case that this is our role? The uncertainty we help create allows room for new creation, for creativity. All our observations are fraught with uncertainty, though many, perhaps most of us pretend otherwise.

Goal

Goal: To express the Gyroscopic Model of the Grail in simple and clear language so that it can be understood intellectually and to provide experiential exercises so that it can be grasped intuitively and physically.

viable comprehension

Continuing to see that the Gyroscopic Model of the Grail that is developing is not just a little story for entertainment but a viable comprehension of our role as humans in the Cosmos, and who/what God is.

A Proof of God

Arthur Young: The photon, which cannot be observed, births mass, length and time -- a proof of God. Arthur is the inventor of the Bell Helicopter. He said he wanted to take his ideas and produce something tangible so folk would more likely listen to what he was saying. Took him 12 years, then he started publishing and lecturing on his philosophical framework, his conceptual view which is based upon both quantum and classical physics.

Stepping Through

It is not so much the stepping DOWN as the hierarchical models of consciousness present (such as the Kabbalah and Corbin's Angelology), though these models have their value, but the stepping THROUGH presented by a holographic model of consciousness (which I am developing in the Grail book). The Hidden steps through to Here continuously.

How to serve

On the Grail. How is a Grail Knight (Warrior of Spirit) to serve? Certainly not by sitting in the Enchanted Castle with the Wounded Elite eating sumptuous food and waking the next morning with no one around, not even a note on the pillow saying "I hope it was as good for you as it was for me" and "Don't let the door slam on your ass as you go out" (which it did of course). No. The Grail Knight serves by opening to the Radiant Light Energies of the Grail as it circulates from the Hidden, to and through the Heart again and again, bringing the Powers of the Hidden to the Daily Journeying.

Healing Powers of the Grail

The Healing Powers of the Grail are Capaciousness, Light, Awareness, Laughter, Surrender, Prayer. Each of these words represents a deep experience beyond their surface meaning.

Fear, Desire, Insight

Fear (Wounded King) and Desire (Quester) dispelled by Insight
See Christy Rodgers

"Before he died, our ironic hero Albert left us with a final summation of his ultimate understanding of life: Imagination is More Important Than Knowledge. And that is why I tell this story as a cosmic fable. The power of myth is the power of metaphor, which is the ancient mechanism of association that creates insight. (You could rephrase Albert’s dictum to say that Insight is More Important Than Knowledge.)"

Most people live, whether physically, intellectually or morally, in a very restricted circle of their potential being. They make use of a very small portion of their possible consciousness, and of their soul's resources in general, much like a man who, out of his whole bodily organism, should get into a habit of using and moving only his little finger. Great emergencies and crises show us how much greater our vital resources are than we had supposed.

The Cup

On the eve of his being taken prisoner, tortured, and crucified, Jesus prayed, "If you will, let this cup pass from me." What cup? You know what the cup is. You have been drinking of it since you assumed human form. The cup of betrayal, of heart-wrenching aloneness, of scorn, of neglect, of abandonment. We drink of this cup, down to its bitter dregs. This is the nature of being human.

What is this cup? A cup is form and capaciousness. What it holds, its contents, varies. The cup is transformed by its contents. Hurtful, scornful, angry, fearful contents acidify the cup. The cup is nailed to the cross of space and time. We are this cup.

What is this cup? This cup is form and capaciousness. What fills the cup transforms the cup. The cup resurrects through capaciousness, room. Opening. Opening to the Light that births us and all that is. The Light of Awareness.

When a young boy, my heart was broken. I talked with my Mama. She said, "Son, you have a choice. You can either shut your heart down to protect yourself and be bitter angry. You can keep your heart open no matter the pain." I chose the latter though at times I feel it slamming shut.

I then pray what Jesus added: "Yet not as I will, but as You will." Who is this "You?" You have to answer that for yourself. As for me, I know who You is.

The cup I drink from now is the Grail. All it contains is Light. Sure, sometimes I drink from the cup of pissedness. Then I laugh and say "What do you think you are doing?" When laughter comes, pissedness disappears. Light and Laughter go together.

So be crucified, my friends, as long as it takes. But remember, though circumstances may have put you on the cross, you are the one who keeps you there.
